I am a huge fan of OmniFocus for Mac and iPhone, so I thought I would share some things that I feel give OmniFocus the edge for task management.
- Estimated Time: Being able to add the amount of time to each action is an invaluable tool, allowing me to quickly glance at actions by time needed. I like to sort this way when I finish a task and have only limited time before a meeting / errand that needs to be done.
- View Bar / Focusing: There is a pair of glasses that sits in the toolbar of OmniFocus that allows you to dail in on what you are looking for. You need to use this. Using this feature can call out the data that you want to see.
Related to this is the ability to Focus on a project (control-command-F). This takes away all other projects so that you can switch between the various view methods without the clutter of other projects. I find this incredible useful when you have a large project going.
- File Links: Did you know that you can drag most files into an action? Not only that, but you can drag in emails. When you do this OmniFocus will create a link to that file or email. Click it and it will take you there. I love doing this for outlines of blog posts that I make in OmniOutliner, or for emails that need further action, or that an action is in reference to. This is easily one of the best features of the program, though not exclusive to OmniFocus.

The start of my organized life began with these babies last year and I’ve been patiently waiting for the ‘09 models to come out. The billable/overhead bubbles are a great improvement to a near perfect document.

Hello, i think this is as good of a place as any to post and let you know. I went to subscribe to your RSS feed, and when i clicked it i got an error that said “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING” followed by other gibberish that scrolled off the screen. I had to force the page to stop loading because it locked up my browser. Cheers.

Hello! What would be great is to have some kind of push notification in the program that reminds you of a task when getting there (for example when you are at the supermarket, there is a reminder that you shall buy milk).

I have used a number of different management tools and have been looking for one that is simple to use and to check quickly.
Is the iPhone app free and fully functional?
Thanks,
Dan

This works in most browsers or yes for those that don’t support it you will need to use a height declaration of html {height:100.01%} but in doing that you always get a scroll-bar no matter what. With the overflow-y: scroll; method all you get is the space of the scroll bar appearing instead of a constant scroll bar which I personally think looks a bit better.

Is there a similar app for the Droid? I haven’t had the good fortune of owning an iphone, but in most cases I’ve been able to find similar apps. Anybody?
